We are building Atena because every child deserves to discover what they can do and expand the world around them.

Why we exist

We believe in the power of a life that finds its possibilities. When a child discovers what they can do, they gain more than a career or a grade: they gain room to imagine their own future, build a fulfilling and joyful life on their own terms, and contribute to their community.

In Brazil, that opportunity still depends too much on where a child begins. Ours is a country of extraordinary natural wealth, talent, creativity and diversity. It is also marked by inequalities that close doors too early. We refuse to accept that where someone is born should decide how far they can go.

That is why we want to build a Brazilian school that takes each child seriously: their curiosity, interests, pace, difficulties and capacity to surprise us. A school with strong foundations and open horizons, bringing knowledge and creation, agency and community, ambition and well-being together.

We believe deeply in educators. A good teacher sees possibilities a tool cannot see, builds relationships and helps students through the effort learning requires. Artificial intelligence may expand teachers’ time, resources and ability to follow each learner’s path. It should strengthen human connection, never replace it.

We want children who learn, imagine and build; who think for themselves, work with others, act with integrity and see in their own potential a responsibility to others. We do not want to standardise destinies. We want to expand possibilities.

We are still at the beginning. Educational and practical questions remain open, and we will address them through study, listening and responsibility. But our conviction is firm: education can change a life. And changed lives can help build a better Brazil and a better world.

We want to build from our own reality: its histories, cultures, challenges and possibilities. Our approach may be bilingual, expanding the ability to engage with the world without losing Brazilian roots.

We want children to collaborate and compete in a world shaped by new technologies, changing needs and a shifting geopolitical landscape. Learning from other experiences means asking what makes sense here, for which children and under what conditions.
